Dr. Daniel Potts shares heart-felt message on World Alhzeimer's Day
Dr. Daniel Potts speaks with authority. Not just as a specialist currently serving as the attending neurologist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Not just as an accomplished author and educator offering observations and guidance on improving the quality of life of persons with cognitive disorders. He is a CHAMPION of those with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their caregivers.
In his books, he writes about his experience helping to care for his father, Lester. As a rural Alabama saw miller, he became an acclaimed watercolor artist after the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Interestingly, Lester had never previously shown artistic talent. By participating in art and music therapy and other innovative programs at Caring Days, a dementia daycare in Tuscaloosa, his cognition, mood and behavior improved and his wife and primary caregiver was granted respite.
In honor of his father and to recognize others who are in the throws of Alzheimer's disease, Dr. Potts recorded a lovely message on World Alzheimer's Day (September 21, 2018) to advocate for the effective treatment of Alzheimer's and other cognitive diseases, to advocate for the those who tirelessly care for those suffering with the disease and to honor the many living with memory disorders.
Dr. Potts will be speaking at the Discover Weekend on Monday, October 8, 2018. We are so excited to have Dr. Potts as our keynote speaker that morning. Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear from a highly regarded advocate and inspiration.
