Why? It is the number one question posed by humans. I suppose it could have come in a close second if it weren’t for the incessant curiosity of the 2-4 year olds among us. A study conducted last year show that four year old girls did their part to insure that “Why?” got its number one ranking, asking an average 390 questions daily. That may seem a little humorous. But truthfully, we never outgrow the curiosity. It is how we are made. To wonder…To search…To Discover!
As adults we have learned to limit our audible inquiries. We most likely realized around our fourth birthday that the questioning needed to slow down a bit if we wanted our parents to purchase socks to match cute outfits instead of using them to stuff into our cute little mouths. But the questions in our minds, no doubt, continue.
Our top questions still begin with why. Why am I here?, Why are there so many difficult and unanswered issues? Then we move to the “What” questions. What does this life mean? What gives my life purpose? What is my passion? And if we manage to steer through those questions, next we are asking, “how am I supposed to navigate through the many challenges that this life presents?”
This Quest(ion) has brought us to an exciting 3-day event slated for Oct 6-8, 2018 in Savannah, Georgia.
Ravi Zacharias, an international apologist, who addresses life’s great existential questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny with eloquence and grace will be speaking on Monday evening of the Discover Weekend. He has impacts the heart and intellect of society’s thinkers and influencers through apologetics, spiritual disciplines, training, and humanitarian support.
Also, joining us on Saturday of this Columbus Day weekend is Dr. Caroline Leaf. Dr. Leaf is a neuroscientist and one of the world’s leading brain and learning specialists. Dr. Leaf will share with us (from her research) how to boost memory and kick start our brains. Her latest written work Think, Learn, Succeed offers understanding and techniques for using your mind to thrive at school, the workplace, and life.
In addition to these great thinkers of our time, The Discover Weekend offers your choice of over 25 weekend sessions* lead by topic experts who will answer questions and give you the tools to face your journey. These three days (set in my home town of beautiful Savannah Georgia) are designed to help you discover potential, purpose and passion and chart a course to a better life.
The wise King Solomon said, “It is God's privilege to conceal things and the king's privilege to discover them.” The search is exhilarating and what joy comes when we discover!
